Dust, make-up and daily wear can cloud the brilliance of your gemstones and dull the surface of platinum, gold or silver. Wear and tear on claws and chain clasps may result in the loss of a stone or an entire piece of jewellery. Some simple basic care will help to preserve and protect your jewellery for years to come:
Professional annual cleaning is recommended. Tanzanite should never be cleaned using a steam cleaner or ultrasonic. It is softer than a diamond, though harder than glass and can scratch or chip through "rough” wear.
Avoid exposing jewellery to household detergents as they can cause gold to discolour and even disintegrate. Non-abrasive commercial jewellery cleaners can be used.
Remember to store your jewellery carefully. We recommend keeping your pieces separated by storing them either in their original packaging or in a jewellery box.
We suggest you avoid wearing jewellery during activity that would expose it to possible damage.
As Jewellers of Distinction, we believe that you should be informed when you make your choice. Please ask our sales consultants for advice.
